Antenna Farmer from Students for Students, Only in Bone

In 2022, PT Kubota Machinery Indonesia carried out a Corporate Social Responsibility program by giving one unit of L4018 tractor to SMK Negeri 5 Bone, South Sulawesi. The program did not stop there, but continued as an Antenna Farmer program in Bone.

Antenna Farmer or Demplot (Demonstration Plot) is an education about agricultural mechanization to the community around the farm area. Antena Farmer’s activities include Plowing (Land Processing), Planting (Seedling & Rice Transplanting) and Harvesting with Kubota’s modern agricultural machinery. This activity has been carried out several times by Kubota together alongside its authorized dealers, at Banten, Tabanan, Lampung, Karawang and many more.

The Antenna Farmer program in Bone was quite special, because it did not only provide a demonstration of how KUBOTA’s agricultural unit works, but also provided training sessions on the use of KUBOTA’s agricultural machinery to students of SMKN 5 Bone. This training session was given directly by certified mechanics from PT Kubota Machinery Indonesia.

Training sessions have started since October 2022, starting with the training and trial of the L4018 four-wheel tractor. Then, the plowing process was carried out by SMKN 5 Bone students accompanied by PT Kubota Machinery Indonesia’s mechanics team. Then in December 2022, the program commenced planting seedlings and continued with trials and planting using SPV-6CMD rice planting machines. All these processes are carried out by SMKN 5 Bone students under the direct supervision of PT Kubota Machinery Indonesia Makassar branch, South Sulawesi.

“I am very impressed with how the KUBOTA planting machine works, it is so fast and clean. Usually it takes 3 days and 4 people to plant rice seedlings on one hectare of land. If you use SPV, it only takes 3 people and 1 day,” said Andi Hikmat Samad, Head of Kadai Village, Bone, who attended the SPV-6CMD transplanting machine trial in Bone last December.

Currently, the Antenna Farmer program in Bone is in the process of waiting for the rice plants to be ready for harvest. Harvesting is planned for March 2023 using KUBOTA harvesting machines.
